„Venku něco zaslechneš a osloví tě to, to je mateřština.“ Metadiskurzy o jazyce romských žen z Kotle

Tento článek vychází z šestiměsíčního etnografického výzkumu v „Centrum pro práci s dětmi ulice“ v Kotelu – malém bulharském městečku, které místní samospráva prezentuje jako „příklad porozumění a integrace Romů“. Díky tomu, že jsem se podílela na jejich každodenních úkolech, měla jsem příležitost pozorovat, jak moji romští kolegové přecházejí mezi bulharštinou, oficiálním jazykem země, a romštinou. Když jsem je požádala, aby mi vysvětlili, jak a proč k těmto přechodům dochází, objevila jsem „epilingvistické napětí“ (Canut, 1998) mezi dodržováním oficiální normy a jejich touhou používat mateřský jazyk. V tomto textu popisuji, jak jejich metadiskurzy o jazyce odrážejí dopady jazykových politik a ideologií v minulém i současném Bulharsku a dvě kontrastní jazykové ideologie související s pojmy národnosti, rasy/etnicity a občanství. V souladu s politikou Centra používat výhradně bulharštinu, ale zároveň vyjadřující touhu používat svůj „mateřský jazyk“ , prožívají moji respondenti nevyřešené napětí mezi asimilací a odporem, homogenizací a emancipací.
